Another year has come to an end, and this is the time when families come together to celebrate and enjoy the holiday season. And what better way to welcome the New Year than with a smashing New Year’s party?
Here are some fun ideas on how you can celebrate this New Year with your loved ones.
1. Mock Countdown
The biggest challenge when planning a New Year’s party with kids is that even with carefully planned afternoon naps, they often can’t stay awake till midnight. So, have a mock count down just for them! Adjust the clocks in your house and watch a pre-recorded video of the ball dropping on YouTube. Get party poppers, balloons, and lots of confetti and go crazy bringing in the New Year with your dear little ones!
If you have neighbors and friends with kids, plan a slumber party for all the children with a ton of fun things like hot cocoa and marshmallows, a short movie, a pillow fight, a baking session, some games and finally end with the countdown to usher in the new year.
Another fantastic idea for your party is a photo booth. Involve your children in some prop-making for a few days leading up to New Year’s Eve. Set up a photo booth with a fun backdrop and go crazy with funny photos during your party.
Who doesn’t enjoy good ol’ karaoke? Get your hands on a karaoke machine or simply download a couple of karaoke apps on to your phone to prepare for this event. Split up into teams and let them sing their hearts out to welcome the New Year!
With adults drinking champagne in fancy glasses, why leave out the little ones? Buy some non-alcoholic, flavored sparkling water, and serve the little ones as well. Take this opportunity to toast the end of 2016 and celebrate the arrival of the New Year.
Make up a game where everyone gets to have a turn to talk about one memory from 2016 and make one resolution for 2017. Note down these on little cards and keep them safely tucked away to review at the end of the year to see if the recommendations were met!
A lovely activity to do with your family after dinner is to sit down together with photographs and items that signify important events in 2016. Take turns talking about each item selected and put it into a shoebox labeled “Best of 2016.” You could even make this a new family tradition and do it every year.
All of the ideas as mentioned above can be used in combination with each other to create an incredibly fantastic night of memories and fun. If you have some time to plan it, try to include everything on the list to throw your kids a New Year’s party they will never forget!
